Focus Group | Incubators & Accelerators | Policy Prefrerences| Islamabad

TechHub Connect is in the process of organizing a series of focus group discussions to seek input from all relevant stakeholders for the PunjabICTPolicy. After holding our first focus group on the above subject in Lahore, we held our second focus group discussion in Islamabad on Friday, 22nd July 2016. Dr. Arshad Ali, Executive Director Higher Education Commission Pakistan was very kind to offer the venue to us to show his support for this effort.

The session was moderated by Ms. Mehak Jamal(Asst. Manager, TechHub Connect) with Ms. Sarah Tariq Gilani (Program Manager, TechHub Connect) expressing Punjab government's perspective, on the table. Director Entrepreneurship- PITB, Mr. Nabeel A. Qadeer, joined the discussion through video conferencing and gave his valuable input. The startup culture in Pakistan has witnessed a surge in the recent years with more than 500 startups and over 30 incubators and accelerators emerging during the last decade. The efforts have been, however, fragmented and lack a unified voice. Consequently, challenges that are being faced by incubators and accelerators across Pakistan remain unheard. With this consideration in mind, we organized this focus group discussion, so as to understand the problems and concerns of the relevant stakeholders in the islamabad #startup scene. We had participation from HEC, Incubators, Accelerators, Startups, University representatives and venture capital firms to be a part of this dialogue and suggest policy recommendations. We would specially like to thank Dr. Arshad Ali for his support. View pictures
