United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with CODE Pakistan, PITB and Jazz Pakistan, held the launch of the 2nd Provincial Edition of the ‘Pakistan National Human Development Report 2024 (#PKNHDR2024) at Arfa Software Technology Park (ASTP).
The launch event was presided by PITB Director General Waqar Naeem Qureshi as the Chief Guest along with PITB Additional Director General Syed Qasim Ifzal and UNDP Assistant Resident Representative Chief Development Unit Ammara Durrani as the keynote speakers. Code Pakistan Team Lead Dilawar Khan was also present at the occasion.
Themed ‘Doing Digital for Development: Access, Adopt, Anticipate, Accelerate,’ the event brought together key stakeholders from the government, civil society, academia and the tech sector to discuss the transformative power of digital technologies in advancing human development.
The event also included a session on ‘Digitalk’ in which expert speakers showcased innovative digital solutions for enhanced security (PSCA), human rights advocacy (DigiLawyer, Courting the Law), access to justice, digital inclusion, and financial empowerment. The speakers for this session included Managing Director Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA) Muhammad Ahsan Younas, CEO DigiLawyer Muhammad Danish Ghaffar, COO/Editor Courting the Law Anoosha Shaigan, Head of Marketing Jazz Ali Fahd Ahmad and Journalist Munizae Jahangir.
Overall, the event fostered collaboration and knowledge sharing among the government officials, civil society representatives, students and tech entrepreneurs. The launch event was followed by a multi-stakeholder consultative huddle chaired by Code Pakistan Team Lead Dilawar Khan and comprising all the key stakeholders, who discussed the possibilities of exploring avenues for future collaborations to foster digital transformation in Pakistan.
