A meeting was held among the representatives from PITB, Green Corporate Livestock Initiative (GCLI) and the Animal Husbandry Commission (AHC) to review the progress of ‘Pakistan Animal Identification & Traceability System (PAITS) nationwide.’ DG Remount Veterinary and Farms Corps (RVFC) General Shahid Mahmood presenting GCLI, Animal Husbandry Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Akram and PITB JD Rana Umair along with SPM Asif Qamar were present.
The discussion mainly focused on the challenges being faced and the roadmap to completely implement PAITS across Pakistan. General Shahid Mahmood praised the efforts of both PITB and AHC in this regard.
PAITS is a national livestock database developed by PITB in collaboration with Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
