Makerspace Punjab

Punjab’s First Makerspace – A Game Changer for Innovation!

PITB is establishing Punjab’s first-ever Makerspace, a transformative hub where students, innovators, startups, academia, industry & researchers will come together to collaborate, experiment, and build the future.

Whether you are building intelligent robots, testing smart IoT devices, prototyping numerous hardware components through CNC machining, or designing immersive experiences in AR and VR, this space brings all possibilities under one roof.

With facilities for rapid 3D printing, precision laser cutting, circuit board prototyping, and human-centered usability testing, Makerspace offers end-to-end product development support and guidance. Every zone is designed to transform raw ideas into functional, market-ready prototypes.
Makerspace Punjab is a special initiative of Government of Punjab and unlike domain-specific labs, this will be a joint innovation space designed to turn ideas into real solutions, addressing both local and global challenges while driving economic growth and technological advancement.

Key Objectives

Access to world class Makerspace equipment for innovation.

Rapid Prototyping and product building for small businesses and Industry.

Dedicated Lab Engineers & Technicians available at Makerspace to support innovators, academia and hardware industry.

Strengthening & promoting local IT Hardware manufactures.

Makerspace Layout

The makerspace will consist of 3 floors with following layout

  1. Ground Floor:
Consisting of major heavy equipment labs like CNC, 3D Printing and PCB & IoT.
  2. Basement:
Consisting of workshop, training and open spaces for hackathons and design thinking.
  3. 1st Floor:
Consisting of light equipment labs like Robotics, AR/VR and Usability labs. This floor will also house seminar room and team offices.

Focus Areas

CNC (Precision Manufacturing)

The CNC lab will house multi-axis CNC milling, cutting, engraving, and routing machines to manufacture high-precision metal and composite parts. This lab will be used for creating enclosures, frames, brackets, and mechanical components required for IT hardware and electromechanical products. This lab will also consist of metal and wood shops to refine and shape the developed prototype.

3D Printing (Rapid design visualization)

Equipped with industrial-grade printers like FDM, SLA and resin 3D printers, this lab will enable rapid additive manufacturing of parts, casings, mounts, and form-factor models. It will be used for fast design iteration, functional prototyping, and low-volume production of IT hardware components.

PCB Protyping (Printed Circuit Board designing)

The PCB lab will include PCB design workstations, routing machines, soldering and reflow stations. It will allow users to design, fabricate, assemble, and test custom circuit boards for electronic devices such as IoT modules, controllers, and embedded systems

IoT Development (sensors, actuators, cloud platforms)

This lab will feature microcontrollers, sensors, actuators, communication modules, and cloud integration tools. It will be used to develop smart, connected devices for applications in automation.

AR/VR Applications (immersive experiences & modeling)

Equipped with AR/VR headsets, motion tracking systems, and high-performance workstations, this lab will support the development of immersive simulations and digital product visualization. It will be used for training simulations, product modeling, virtual walkthroughs, and interactive design validation

Usability Labs (user testing & optimization)

The usability lab will include eye-tracking systems, usability testing software, recording tools, and observation setups. It will be used to evaluate user interaction, ergonomics, and interface design of hardware and software products to ensure intuitive, user-friendly, and market-ready solutions

Robotics (autonomous & semi-autonomous systems)

The robotics lab will be equipped with robotic arms, mobile robot kits, controllers, sensors, and simulation tools. It will support the design, assembly, and programming of robotic systems for applications such as automation, smart manufacturing, logistics, and service robotics
