Punjab Thalassemia Prevention Program (PTPP) is an initiative by The Government of Punjab with collaboration of PITB. The prevention program has been conceived as part of overall preventive strategy by the government in the health sector, having regional centers in Multan, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur and Head office in Lahore at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. The Thalassemia application designed by PITB helps in achieving different objectives such as:
- Awareness about Thalassemia
- Screening of carriers (extended family screening)
- Pre-marital screening for the general public
- Genetic Counseling
- Pre-natal Diagnosis
