Machine Readable Computerized Driving Licenses in Punjab

In order to address the concern of driving licenses being forged, the Government of Punjab plans on issuing Machine Readable Computerized Driving Licenses. A meeting was held on the 7th of July 2015 to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Additional IG Punjab of traffic police, Altaf Hussain and Vice President NBP (National Bank of Pakistan), Shafiq Ahmed Khan.
Citizens will be able to pay their printing, courier, and NADRA verification fee at any NBP. The funds will be tracked through an automated system developed by PITB. A website http://www.dlims.punjab.gov.pk/ has also been established by PITB for users to log onto and check the originality of their license.
