Mr. Waqar Naeem Qureshi serves as Director General (IT Solutions) at the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). He brings over 30 years of local and international experience in program and technology management, specializing in the large-scale deployment of ICT solutions for public-sector institutions and multinational organizations.
At PITB, he leads high-impact technology initiatives aimed at strengthening public service delivery across Punjab, with a focus on Education Management and EdTech Solutions, Automated Fare Collection Systems, Data Governance, Enterprise-Level Master Data Management and Data-Sharing Platforms, and AI-enabled public-sector services.
Key initiatives under his leadership include the implementation of a secure, government-wide real-time data-sharing platform that connects major provincial departments through API-based integration to enabling evidence-based decision-making and emergency preparedness. He has led the digital transformation of the School Education Department, Punjab, covering nearly 50,000 public schools through real-time reporting, learning management, licensing, and grievance-redressal systems. Additionally, he oversaw the deployment of Pakistan’s first Metro Bus Automated Fare Collection (e-Ticketing) System, delivered within budget and currently serving approximately 150,000 passengers daily.
Prior to joining PITB, Mr. Qureshi held senior roles at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), United Technologies Carrier (UAE), Vroom Technologies (USA), and IBM Pakistan. He holds a double major in Computer Science and Economics from Beloit College, USA, and is a frequent guest speaker at the National School of Public Policy, Pakistan.
