uberAUTO Launches in Lahore!

After a successful car taxi service, Uber Pakistan decided to launch exquisite new services in Pakistan officially announcing the launch of rickshaw service ‘uberAUTO’ in Lahore. Chairman PITB, Dr Umar Saif inaugurated uberAUTO and took the first ride.
DIG Operations, Haider Ashraf, CCPO Lahore, Captain Amin Wains, CTO Lahore, Tayyab Cheema, Secretary Excise, Ahmed Bilal, DG IT (PITB), Faisal Yousaf, CEO Uber, Zohair Yousafi and Head of Expansions Uber, Loic Amado were all present at the event and deliberated the operations of the service.
Zohair Yousafi said that passengers who cannot afford an expensive car ride uberAUTO is the answer for them. Rickshaws are an iconic part of Lahore landscape and so they are excited to unveil another service from platform of Uber. Lahore has wholeheartedly welcomed progressive technology and smart transport solutions while introducing uberAUTO, Uber is contributing to the share of securing the rickshaw culture, he added.
Loic Amado stated that uberAUTO is our effort to expand Uber’s consumer reach for the Pakistani populace. He also informed that uberAUTO will be operating in compliance with Chief Minister Green Punjab Scheme.
Dr Umar Saif said that uberAUTO is another way of using technology to offer more choice and making life simpler offering cheap and safe mode of transportation. uberAUTO will also help rickshaw drivers to earn through technology, he added. He further said that initiatives like uberAUTO are a reflection of the way in which Lahore embraces technology within transport industry.
Chairman PITB said that the law enforcement department can leverage on data collected by Uber to ensure security and law & order in the city, which was endorsed by DIG Ops, Haider Ashraf.
All the participants of the meeting thanked Dr Umar Saif to liaison the meet with all department that have any stake in the service including police, excise and transport department. They said that PITB has always been enthusiastically participative of any initiative that offers to ensures security.
