Dr Umar Saif gave a Distinguished Lecture at the University of Washington Seattle about the use of technology in development. Considered a preeminent expert in the world in the field of technology for development, Dr Saif will be chairing the annual international conference on ICT for Development (ICTD) next year.
Dr Umar Saif was later invited to the headquarters of the Bill Gates Foundation in Seattle to discuss innovations that would enable financial inclusion for people who do not have access to digital money. Dr Saif also presented his vision for setting up a center at Information Technology University for research in Financial Technology (FinTech).
