Delegates aimed to seek technological solutions to strengthen crop reporting services and boost agriculture in Punjab. DG IT Ops, Faisal Yousaf, elaborated on Punjab’s e-Credit scheme through which small farmers are being given interest-free loans through smartphones. Participants also deliberated ‘Area Yield Index Insurance (AYII) Program: Linkages between seasonal crop credit and crop insurance’ and its objectives to design crop insurance programs that fit the needs of Punjab’s subsistence farmers, small commercial farmers & large commercial farmers.
