A historic day for PITB as President Arif Alvi graced the ‘Punjab 3.0’ event held in Arfa Software Technology Park (ASTP) as part of the Web 3.0 roadmap. Punjab will be the first province to embrace Web 3.0 and it was the first ever visit of President of Pakistan to PITB. The President was accompanied by Punjab Finance Minister Mohsin Leghari (Convener Web 3.0 committee) and Punjab Information Technology (IT) Minister Dr. Arslan Khalid (Co-Convener).
Web 3.0 is the third iteration of the internet that combines a bouquet of disruptive technologies such as Block chain, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Virtual Currencies, Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Metaverse, Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud Computing and more.
Punjab IT Minister Dr. Arslan Khalid welcomed the president and apprised him about the core objectives behind introducing Web 3.0 in the province. PITB Chairman Syed Bilal Haider gave a detailed presentation on the key PITB initiatives including Web 3.0 and how this technology is expected to improve governance and facilitate citizens.
The ceremony concluded with President Arif Alvi awarding appreciation shields and certificates to the leading ICT companies and individuals for outstanding contributions in areas related to Web 3.0. These companies and contributors had registered using the Web 3.0 portal (https://web3.punjab.gov.pk/) developed by PITB.
