Agricultural Reformation through Smart Use of Technology

As a continued effort and commitment to improve methods of agricultural trends in the province, Punjab Government along with the Agriculture Department has devised an effectively innovative ‘cognitive system’ with the thorough technical assistance of PITB. The mechanism will facilitate farmers and improve business prospects for fertilizer, seed and pesticide companies.
A session in relevance to the initiative was conducted by Faisal Yousaf (DG IT Operations, PITB), which was attended by CEOs of all the major fertilizer, seed and pesticide companies. An exhaustive list of more than 6.5 million farmers across Punjab was shared with the participants, which is bound to reap fiscal benefits. Moreover, a price list of all the agrochemicals and seeds was also finalized so the farmers could not be dodged. The end goal, however, is to increase the yield and bring benefit to the farmers in terms of money, time and effort through the indigenous decision-making system.
