Punjab Government Departments to Be Made Paperless Via PITB’s CMIS

February 14, 2023

On the instructions of CM Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman issued directions to make all the workings of the provincial cabinets paperless, including but not limited to, ‘Circulation of agenda, minutes of meetings and movements of all summaries etc.’ via Cabinet Management Information System (CMIS). Chairman Faisal Yousaf is hopeful that such initiatives will change the traditional trend and enable the departments in ensuring smooth workflow and make timely decisions.

CMIS is a customized product developed by PITB to enhance transparency and efficiency of the departments along with savings of billions per year from the head of printing and logistics etc.

The first ever paperless Cabinet meeting was held recently on 09 February in which Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman further directed to organize a meeting for the representatives of all the departments. This meeting was held on February 13, 2023 at the Darbar Hall Secretariat.

Director General PITB Muhammad Waseem Bhatti along with team CMIS demonstrated all the aspects of the system. A hands on training was also given to the attendees. Team PITB also appointed trainers for all the departments to speed up the transition and make it easier.

Additional Secretary Implementation & Coordination Farid Ahmed and DG e-Governance PITB Sajid Latif were also present at the meeting.

In second phase, all the departments of Punjab will be made paperless as per the instruction of CM Punjab using the same concept.
