A delegation from Punjab Agriculture Department visited PITB headquarters at ASTP to review the progress of GIS-based survey of cotton farmers in Punjab. The meeting was chaired by Agriculture Department Director Dr. Anjum Buttar.
Senior officials from the Agriculture Department and PITB attended the meeting. The participants of the meeting were informed that the GIS-based survey of cotton farmers is in progress. Both sides also discussed the way forward for cotton data collection and data verification. It was decided that the Agriculture Department will work with PITB to develop a system for collecting and verifying cotton data. The system will be used to improve the accuracy of cotton production estimates and to help farmers make better decisions about their crops.
The Agriculture Department DG appreciated the efforts of PITB and said that the data collected through this survey will be used to improve the cotton production in Punjab.
