Consultation Session Held on the Development of 'IPR Enforcement Complaint Management System of IPO-Pakistan" with Enforcement Agencies

Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan (IPO) in collaboration with PITB held a consultative session on the proposed 'Online Intellectual Property Right (IPR) Complaint System' to apprise the stakeholders and get their feedback on the new initiative. The session was chaired by Director General IPO-Pakistan Shazia Adnan and was co-headed by PITB Director General Business Development & Training Saima Shaikh.

Key stakeholders comprising representatives from the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) including Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), Pakistan Customs, all Provincial Food Authorities and Police Departments from Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan attended the session.

During the session Director General IPO-Pakistan Shazia Adnan emphasized on the need to have an integrated IPR online complaint system, where all LEAs are connected with IPO-Pakistan through a single online platform to ensure timely resolution of complaints. Additionally, PITB Director Syed Nayyer Ali gave comprehensive insights and presentation of the system to the participants.

The new initiative of Online Complaint System is a holistic approach of the IPO-Pakistan to ensure the objectives of fair competition, enhanced service delivery, increased effectiveness of LEAs in the enforcement of the IPRs and thus to improve overall efficiency of the IPR regime in Pakistan.
