National Workshop on PITB's Pakistan Animal Identification & Traceability System Held

A nationwide workshop was held on PITB developed Pakistan Animal Identification & Traceability System (PAITS) by Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Islamabad. 

Federal Secretary for National Food Security and Research Captain (Retd.) Muhammad Mehmood Ahmad, Animal Husbandry Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Akram and representatives from FAO and Livestock & Dairy Development Department (L&DD) also participated in the event.

During the workshop, PITB team gave a detailed overview regarding different modules of PAITS, its implementation and progress status across the country. The team also proposed the way forward regarding how to make this system sustainable after the completion of its pilot run.

The Federal Secretary appreciated the efforts of all the concerned stakeholders who had contributed in the development and implementation of this system. He emphasized that PAITS is a revolutionary initiative that is helping ensure better food quality and boost livestock exports in accordance with international regulations.
