Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi launched the #Enabled Online Portal, developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), in a ceremony held to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Punjab Social Welfare & Baitul Maal Minister Prof. Dr. Javed Akram, Secretary Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal Punjab Zahoor Hussain, Director General Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal Punjab Muddassir Riaz Malik, PITB Additional Director General Kashif Farooq along with his project team, potential donors, and vendor representatives were also present on the occasion.
The "#Enabled" initiative signifies a revolution in the provision of assistance to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). The portal, a digitized ecosystem, facilitates the collection of assistive equipment (including Wheelchairs, Hearing Aid, Canes etc) requests from PWDs, already registered at Disabled Person Management Information System (DPMIS), and connects them with registered donors ready to fund these requests. By harnessing technology, the portal ensures that the needs of disabled and deserving individuals are met efficiently and transparently.
The portal also has registered vendors responsible for supplying contributed items through courier services, ensuring a streamlined process from donation to delivery. This holistic approach guarantees that every donation directly benefits the intended recipient.
The Social Welfare Department Directorate will closely monitor the entire process, ensuring that the system operates with the highest standards of integrity and efficiency. This oversight instills confidence in both donors and recipients regarding the portal's effectiveness.
At the end of the session, Punjab Social Welfare & Baitul Maal Minister Prof. Dr. Javed Akram distributed appreciation certificates among the PITB project team members.
