The objective of this session is to give overview of Windows 8.1 to the developers, students and drive the LSE [Local Software Economy] and enhance capacity building. A total of 40 participants including Developers, Students & Academicians from different Microsoft Partners and Independent Software Vendors (ISV) and Universities participated in this 3 hour session. A 3 hours long discussions and Presentation remained focused towards the Roadmap & Concepts of Windows 8.1 Training gave participants an opportunity to learn Windows 8.1 App Development features. Agenda Intro to windows 8.1 Language Options parameter Passing between Pages Frames and their Pages Navigation Creating a complete weather App About the Trainer Mr. Mr. Muhammad Shahid Aziz is a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) and Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP). He has a great track record of performance in various reputed Partners & ISVs, where his key areas of responsibilities were to develop applications, design user experiences and Implementing SharePoint 2010 based solutions. Shahid has been a developer for Windows Phone applications and has hands-on expertise in Windows 8 apps development. Shahid Aziz has a long association with the Microsoft Community and has been the part of the projects as a Technical Consultant and Trainer for Deploying SharePoint Solutions in and out of the country. His Areas of Expertise are Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010, Windows Phone 7 and Windows 8 Application Development. He is currently associated with Microsoft Innovation Center Lahore as Technical Consultant. The objective of this session is drive Application Development activities in the market and drive App development using Visual Studio and provide them with the relevant mentorship and technical support. The objective behind this session was to build eco system to drive understanding of App Development activities in the LSE. A total of 35 participants including Developers, Students & Academicians from different Microsoft Partners and Independent Software Vendors (ISV) and Universities participated in this 3 hour session. A 3 hours long discussions and Presentation remained focused towards the Roadmap & Concepts of Windows Phone 8. Training gave participants an opportunity to learn Windows Phone 8 App Development features. Agenda Integrating your application into the Windows Phone Speech and Natural Language Experience. Voice Commands in Windows Phone 8.0 and respective limitation How Cortana differs from Voice Commands Cortana-enabled Voice Commands Speech Recognition Speech Synthesis About Speaker Usman Ur Rehman Ahmed is working as an Audience Marketing Manager (AMM) at Microsoft since 2012. At Microsoft, he is the man behind innovative developer and IT Pros centric social media campaigns and execution of promotional activities. He’s also driving MVP program for Pakistan and is engaged with software houses and startups on various verticals. He is a Microsoft adherent who has previously worked on various open source platforms and technologies from to RIAs to distributed server driven applications. He is a developer by heart and hands and has delivered various trainings and workshops on Microsoft tools & technologies from C# to Universal Apps to Cloud, etc. About the Participants A total of 100 students from UMT Lahore participated in 3 hours session.

Arsalan has Hands-on expertise in developing financial and SAAS applications for different international companies. He has worked on Asp.net, WPF, Silverlight, WP7 and Windows 8 metro apps, wcf and Azure services. Arsalan is currently working in Vopium A/S as senior software engineer and developing for windows phone and windows 8 RT metro apps.
